Talk by Yu Ji : A Petrified Performance that is Sculpture

 (For English please scroll down)

Talk by Yu Ji:

A Petrified Performance that is Sculpture

How to negotiate the bodily presence between the premise of sculptural anatomy and that of natural performed one? The casual evening talk launched the aesthetic dilemma via two previous events Yu Ji had co-produced.

Case I: Deep In The Cloud (collaborated with Yan Jun, a Chinese sound artist and music critic among other identities)

Sculptures, cement, sound as well as bodily activities and reactions from two artists and various audiences: All of which encountered in that almost confined basement of AM Art Space, resulted with a deep-in-the-cloud performance.

Case II: Settling (collaborated with Zhao Chuan, founder of underground theater troupe Grass Stage, China)

Along with director Zhao Chuan and 9 participants from various backgrounds, the white cube of Earl Lu Gallery in Lasalle College of the Arts is transformed into a workshop venue lasted for 6 days. Consequently, boulder-liked sculptures, on-site produced installations and sound and performances were vibrating on stage.
