In September 2019, Fragments of Paracolonial was self-published by researcher Huang Chien-Hung. The book collects his oeuvre throughout recent these years on the discourse of paracoloniality. Described by Yang Kai-lin as fragmented and perplexus-labyrinth-like in writing and thinking, Fragments of Paracolonial forces us to think twice about how WE truly comprehend, dissect, question and ask things. In other words, how do we rethink our position in relation to others, and from that point, understand coloniality. If WE cannot clearly identify where the exploitation, extraction, domination and oppression take place, decolonization is merely a hypothesis. In Obstinate Combat – Talk Series on Contemporary Coloniality, scholars and practitioners from different disciplines including film, literature, visual arts, performing arts and feminism studies will break, mold and conjure discussion about coloniality. Huang will also respond with his recent thinking on paracoloniality. Through brain-to-brain interaction, WE hope to get close to an embodied experience of decolonization, and then push to the boundary of “Possible-but-not-yet” and “not-yet.”

* The talk is in Mandarin.
