豪華朗機工以跨領域/跨概念/跨新舊科技,定義「混種」為創作精神,以不同邏輯同時思考同一件事。《照顧計畫》的提出,便是這樣概念性的集合型計畫,以「再造生命」為主軸,為老舊的物件或地點,重新開啟應用價值。每個子計畫,獨立聚合起一群有專業能力的夥伴,真實的介入對象一段時間,討論現象—決定方法—執行改造,留下來的是能夠真正延續使用的物件空間、行為模式或方法材料。

 

《照顧計畫》之中的對象與介入方式都彈性的被選擇,如此偏向機會式串連的邏輯,除了去象徵性之外,也深具著遊戲性格,「好玩就玩」。提出子計畫後,不限成員、地點、手法、媒材、藝術類型甚至商業領域,身在工作,同時讓玩樂特性主導著執行;每次都好似旅行,我們到了,討論—改造—完成,我們離開。《照顧計畫》,以服務為表象,從中換取所需,就像啄木鳥,周而復始的動作,看似雕蝕著木頭的,實則正為樹木除蟲,也為啄木鳥帶來食物。這些層次神奇地化為《照顧計畫》的內涵,於是每執行一次照顧計畫,我們便藉此學習新觀念/新技術,帶著執行力去實驗,最後稱之為作品的紀錄與文本,便將帶來下回「混種」的可能性。混種後又再轉型,讓《照顧計畫》的概念一次次革新昇華。

 

本次豪華朗機工在法國「Treignac Projet」駐村期間,共執行了三個子計畫:《啄木鳥》/《照顧 Treignac Projet》/《 我.在.法.國》。(文/豪華朗機工)

What we leave behind; what we take with us.

 

The creative spirit that drives Luxury Logico comes from an interdisciplinary, cross-referential methodological hybrid that combines old and new technologies. A single idea is simultaneously processed through different modes of logic. The collective plan, “Project Woodpecker” arose out of this mindset. The principal idea for this project, “Recreating Life,” takes an old object or space, and creates a new utilization value for it. In each of the sub-projects, a group of professionals are brought together to spend time with the subject, to assess the situation, decide on the method, and to then execute the transformation. What they leave behind must possess a continued function as an object-space, behavior model, or as reusable methods and materials.

 

The selection processes for these projects, and the methods of involvement in “Project Woodpecker” were flexible, in order to create a natural progression toward a random unifying logic. In addition to the symbolism, this gave the project the depth of gaming characteristics: “Play with what is playable.” When sub-projects were proposed, there were no limits on participants, setting, method, media, genre of art, or commercial boundaries. The work direction was dictated by the idea of play. Every endeavor was a journey. We arrive. We discuss-rebuild-complete. We leave. Although service was a mainstay of Project Woodpecker*, the project itself also sustained us by giving us what we needed. Like a woodpecker, whose repetitive action of boring holes into wood has a function of pest removal, the endless pecking also functions as a method of food collection for the woodpecker. These multiple levels of functions are at the crux of “Project Woodpecker”. As we execute each caretaker plan, we are mindful of learning new ideas and technologies. We implement our experiments. The records and texts that document the completed project are brought back to serve as a springboard for the next round of potential “hybrids.” After these ideas are cross-bred, they are re-formulated, and the concepts in “Project Woodpecker” are thus continually renewed and sublimated.
