來自以色列的藝術團體公共運動(Public Movement) 成立自2006年,由Dana Yahalomi與Omer Krieger所發起,組織多位藝術家而成的表演團體。其創作核心精神以在公共空間所發起的各種行為表演形式,探討個人、公共關係、社群空間,以及政治之間的連鎖關係。在過去幾年間,他們活躍於西亞及歐美等地的各大藝術性與社會性活動,藉由和各種社群與組織的合作,在城市公共空間裡發表作品,以此進行一連串公共空間的社會性調查及研究。

 

公共運動(Public Movement)以具體的活動貫徹個人即為政治的行為理念,他們至今所發動的表演作品形式,包含重新標寫的新民俗舞蹈表演、公開宣示、遊行、靜坐、重現意外事件等各種模擬個人、社團、社會組織、政府機構與民眾的生活景象,透過這些作品發表,Public Movement嘗試在公眾的生活空間中探索關於社會規範、政治、歷史文化、約定成俗的宗教禮制系統、個人身份的形成等等議題。

 

本次應國立台灣美術館2013亞洲藝術雙年展之邀,公共運動(Public Movement)將首次在亞洲地區發表作品,並呼應展覽主題「返常」在台展開新計畫。本次希望藉由創作交流會和台灣在地的藝術工作者、社會運動家、社會史學家、政治人物等進行面對面交流,他們也希望結合台灣當地關心此一公共空間議題的工作者,一起啟動在台灣的藝術表演計畫。

 

 

Politics happens with Bodies – A Presentation by Public Movement from Israel

The Movement was founded in 2006 by Omer Krieger and Dana Yahalomi, who later assumed sole leadership in 2011. In the last six years, Public Movement has explored the regulations, forces, agents, and policies, formations of identity and systems of ritual which govern the dynamics of public life and public space The movement operates in public spaces, studies and creates public choreographies, forms of social order, overt and covert rituals. Among Public Movement’s actions in the past and in the future: manifestations of presence, fictional acts of hatred, new folk dances, synchronized procedures of movement, spectacles, marches, inventing and reenacting moments in the life of individuals, communities, social institutions, peoples, states, and of humanity. It is a representative group, a selected team of artists, with the prospect of becoming a mass movement.

 

Invited by National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, the group leader Dana Yahalomi and her research assistant Hagar Ophir will participate in 2013 Asian Art Biennial and make on-site new project for this year biennial theme “Everyday Life.” Public Movement leader Dana Yahalomi will give a lecture at TCAC, 7pm on the 27th. During the lecture Dana Yahalomi, will present key strategies developed by the movement alongside examples of previous actions. The Lecture – Presentation is 1.5h – 2h long, including a half an hour Q&A.

 

About Public Movement

Public Movement is a performative research body that investigates and stages political actions in public spaces. The movement explores the political and aesthetic possibilities residing in a group of people acting together. It studies and creates public choreographies, forms of social order, overt and covert rituals. Among Public Movement’s actions in the past and in the future: manifestations of presence, fictional acts of hatred, new folk dances, synchronized procedures of movement, spectacles, marches, inventing and reenacting moments in the life of individuals, communities, social institutions, peoples, states, and of humanity. Public Movement was founded in November 2006 by Omer Krieger and Dana Yahalomi, who led it together until August 2011. The movement is currently led by Yahalomi. (Acco, 2007), Rally (Rabin Square, 2007), Operation Free Holon, Change of Guard (With Dani Karavan, Tel-Aviv Museum of Art), Public Movement House (MoBY, Bat-Yam Museum of Art), The 86th Anniversary of the assassination of president Gabriel Narutowicz by the painter Eligiusz Niewiadomski (National Gallery of Art Zacheta, Warsaw), Spring in Warsaw (2009), Performing Politics for Germany (2010), University Exercise (Heidelberg, 2010), Exercise in Citizenship (Tel-Aviv University, 2010) and The Reenactment of the Mount Herzl Terrorist Attack (Upcoming).
