Can postcolonial geographies be re-materialised by the senses of food, sounds and poems? Can affairs of food and memory perform Myth and Meaning?

A close encounter with individual and collective memories, historical narratives and literary references, Cooking Silent: Postcolonial Affairs of Food and Memory brings together the sense of smelling, tasting, listening with reading to compose a impromptu spatial-material sound theatre. Through the process of food preparation with noise collection and production, it deconstructs the actual to propose an imaginary narrative and ritual notation. How such fluid tensions make history perishable runs beneath Cooking Silent, a method to read a postcolonial affair.

Cooking Silent: Postcolonial Affairs of Food and Memory is initiated by Snow Huang, the director and founder of Against-Again Troupe(TW), in collaboration with Darinko Chimal and Kit Hammonds.

Vernacular Institute(Benjamin Franklin 50, Casa C, Escandón, Mexico City, MX 11800)
